Argon is undertaking seismic strengthening work at Nathan Homestead to bring it in line with current building safety standards.
The two-storey heritage-listed building is an unreinforced structure originally built in 1924. The building was identified as being earthquake-prone, and the current works will strengthen it to 67% New Building Standard (NBS).
The project also includes enhancement and renewal works, including the installation of an interior lift.
Originally built for the Nathan family, the homestead is now used as a Council-run community centre.
A centenary celebration is planned for the building when it reopens in 2025.
